Our commitment to inclusive design
Our commitment
Spyced Concepts Ltd is committed to ensuring this website is accessible to all users, regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse the web. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA throughout.
Conformance status
This website is fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. All pages have been designed, built, and audited against the four WCAG principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.
Accessibility features
The following measures are in place across this website:
- Skip navigation— a “Skip to main content” link is the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation (WCAG 2.4.1).
- Colour contrast — all text and interactive elements meet or exceed the required contrast ratios: 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components (WCAG 1.4.3, 1.4.11).
- Focus indicators — a clearly visible 3px outline is shown on all focusable elements when navigating by keyboard (WCAG 2.4.7, 2.4.11).
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone, with no keyboard traps (WCAG 2.1.1, 2.1.2).
- Scroll margin — focused elements are never obscured by the sticky header; a scroll margin accounts for the navigation bar height (WCAG 2.4.11).
- Touch target sizes— all interactive targets are a minimum of 24×24 CSS pixels (WCAG 2.5.8).
- Semantic HTML — pages use landmark regions (
header, nav, main, footer), correct heading hierarchy, and appropriate list elements (WCAG 1.3.1). - Meaningful reading order — the visual order of content matches the DOM order; CSS is not used to reverse reading sequence (WCAG 1.3.2).
- ARIA labels — icon-only controls and landmark regions carry descriptive
aria-labelattributes. Decorative images and SVGs are hidden from assistive technology witharia-hidden="true"(WCAG 1.1.1). - Live notifications — the cookie notice uses
role="alert"so it is announced automatically by screen readers without requiring focus management (WCAG 4.1.3). - Language — the page language is declared as English on every page (WCAG 3.1.1).
- No flashing content — there are no animations or transitions that flash more than three times per second (WCAG 2.3.1).
- Resizable text — all text can be resized up to 200% in the browser without loss of content or functionality (WCAG 1.4.4).
- No reliance on colour alone — information is never conveyed by colour as the only visual means (WCAG 1.4.1).
Known limitations
We are not aware of any WCAG 2.2 Level AA failures on this website at the time of this statement. If you encounter a barrier, please let us know (see below).
Technical specifications
This website is built with Next.js (React), using semantic HTML5, CSS Modules, and server-side rendering. It relies on the following technologies for conformance:
- HTML5
- CSS3 (no CSS that inverts reading order)
- WAI-ARIA 1.2 where native HTML semantics are insufficient
Compatible assistive technologies
This website has been tested with, and is expected to work well with, the following combinations:
- NVDA with Firefox (Windows)
- JAWS with Chrome (Windows)
- VoiceOver with Safari (macOS and iOS)
- TalkBack with Chrome (Android)
Any modern browser with JavaScript enabled is supported. The site does not require JavaScript for core content but uses it for the cookie notice interaction.
Assessment approach
Spyced Concepts Ltd assessed the accessibility of this website through the following methods:
- Self-evaluation against WCAG 2.2 success criteria during development.
- Manual keyboard-only navigation testing on each page.
- Colour contrast verification using the sRGB linearisation formula for all foreground/background colour combinations.
- Screen reader testing with VoiceOver on macOS.
- Automated checks using browser accessibility tooling.
